Obituary: Portage County, Wisconsin: Andrew NYSTROM Stevens Point Daily Journal Feb. 9, 1899 Brakeman killed Andrew Nystrom, who has for a short time been braking on the Greenwood branch of the Central, was instantly killed at Marshfield at about 10 o'clock this forenoon. T he story of the accident as it comes to the Journal is that Nystrom was engaged in switching and that the engine was backing toward him; that when the engine reached him he attempted to board it but slipped and went under the wheels, his body being literally cut to pieces. Nystrom was about 26 years of age and came here from Alexandria, Minn., where his mother resides, about three months ago. While here he boarded at the Central house on the south side. He left here about six days ago to work on the Greenwood branch.
