Obituary: Portage County, Wisconsin: George Steager

Death of an old Resident 

Mr. George Steager, who had been a resident of Stevens Point for the last eighteen years, 
died on the 25th of last month. He was buried on Friday, the remains being followed to 
their last resting place by a long line of carriages- one of the largest funderal 
processions ever seen in this city. The deceased was a member of the Fire Company, and 
also of the Singing Bunt, both of which organizations took part in the funeral ceremony. 

The procession moved in the following order: 1. Stevens Point band, playing a funeral dirge 
2. Hearse 3. Fire company in full uniform 4. Singing Bunt 5. Family of deceased and near relatives 
6. Citizens in carriages 

Mr. Steager was universally respected in this community.
