Marriage: Portage County, Wisconsin: Zimmer-Hennig Stevens Point Daily Journal April 29, 1899 Married in Milwaukee Emil G. Zimmer and Miss Mary Hennig of this city were married in Milwaukee Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock. The attendants were William Hennig, brother of the bride, and Miss Gussie Neuman. The young couple returned to this city Friday and last evening were serenaded by Weber's Juvenile Brass band, which played several excellent selections. Mr. Zimmer is the oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. William Zimmer of 918 Center avenue. He was brought up in this city and is very popular among the young men of the south side. He has been employed for several years as a fireman for the Wisconsin Central and was promoted to the position of engineer some three or four months ago. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. James Marshall of 302 Monroe street and is a very estimable young woman. They expect to leave in a few weeks for Denver and Leadville, Col., to visit Mr. Zimmer's sister, Mrs. I.E. Sax, and brother, John. The latter, too, has only recently become a Benedict, having been married about two months ago to a Denver girl and is now employed in the mines at Leadville. If Emil likes the country he may conclude to remain in the west. He was just returning from a two weeks' visit with friends in New York and Pennsylvania when he stopped in Milwaukee to be married. While in Pennsylvania he stopped to visit his old friend, Jack O'Brien. The latters's health has not improved any since he left here. ************************************************************************ Submitted by Kathy Grace, June 2004 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************
