A lifelong area resident, Grace was born on July 3, 1919, in the town of Hill at the Blomberg Farm on Hultman Lake to George and Lillian (Risberg) Blomberg. She attended grade school in the town of Hill and was the Price County Dairy Queen in 1936. During her young adulthood, Grace was employed as a nanny in Skokie, Ill. She then moved back to the home farm. Grace and her husband, Harold, first met on the Roy Meier Farm and were united in marriage on May 31, 1941, at the George Blomberg Home Farm. Grace and Harold moved to Lake Geneva, then to Seneca, Ill., and then back to the town of Hill. The couple purchased a farm in the town of Spirit after Harold returned from serving his country during WWII. Together, they operated the dairy farm from 1946 until 1982. Grace had also been a teacher's aide at the Ogema Elementary School for several years. Grace was an avid book reader. She enjoyed the outdoors and visiting with people, taking great pleasure in details of peoples' lives. She also enjoyed sewing, knitting and traveling. Grace will be remembered for her warm hospitality. Grace was a member of Ogema Baptist Church and in her younger years, was a member of the Young People's Group and took part in the Gospel Teams. She also attended Zion Lutheran Church in the town of Spirit. Grace was a member of the Liberty Belles Homemaker's Club and had been a leader of the Wilson Workers 4- H Club. He was a member of the Ogema Baptist Ladies Aide, a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and was a member of the Ogema Baptist Church Choir. Along with Harold, Grace was a member of the Farmer's Union and the Spirit American Legion Post #452 Auxiliary. In her later years, Grace attended Spirit Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Harold; three daughters, Grace Ann (Gary) Hansen, Ripon; Jennifer Sue (Russell) Sarkkinen, Spirit; Nancy Lynn (Bryan) Bowen, Rhinelander; five sons, Harold Charles (Judie), Chippewa Falls; Douglas William (B), Athens, Ga.; Paul Thomas (Allison), Normal, Ill.; Daniel Henry (Janie), Park Falls; Donald Steve (Vivian), Spirit; five brothers and 10 sisters-in-laws, Edwin (Jewell) Blomberg, Calumet, Okla.; Roy (Pastor Terry) Blomberg, Greenwood; Palmar (Madelyn) Blomberg, Medford; Lyle (Kathleen) Blomberg, town of Hill; George (Hope) Blomberg, Ogema; Jeanette Blomberg, Myrtle Blomberg, Myrtle Blomberg, Mabel Blomberg all of the town of Hill; and Joyce Blomberg, Rhinelander; two sisters, Betty (Floyd) Nelson, Ogema; Edythe (Robert) Gravley, Darwin, Minn.; 24 grandchildren and four great- grandchildren; also surviving are nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by one infant son, Robin Jon Rhody; six brothers, Alan, Wilbert, Ivar, John and Laurence Blomberg and Palmer Andrew Blomberg in infancy. Funeral services were held on Feb. 25 at the Ogema Baptist Church with Pastor David Root and Pastor Duane Harper officiating. Interment was at the Hillcrest Cemetery in the town of Spirit. Dallman-Kniewel Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake served the family.
