Racine Co., Wisconsin OBIT: Margaret Van Valin Humbert SUBJECT: Obit of Margaret Van Valin Humbert SUBMITTER: Marie Hosdil EMAIL: emhosdil@1st.net DATE: Nov 05, 1999 SURNAMES: Van Valin, Humbert Waterford Post, September 19, 1918. Margaret Elizabeth Van Valin, daughter of Jane and Oliver Van Valin, was born at Spring Prairie, August 22, 1840. She passed away from her earthly to her heavenly home September 10, 1918, aged 78 years. The greater part of her life was lived at Caldwell, formerly Caldwell Prairie for the early life her parents moved to this place. She was united in marriage to Augustus Humbert January 16, 1859, who preceded her to the home beyond August, 1885. There were born to them five sons, Paul, Canada; Francis, of Spring Prairie; Leon and Clara, of Caldwell, and Frederic, who died in infancy; and six grandsons. These with one sister, Mrs. Mary R. Humbert, of Seattle, Washington and three brothers: Alfred, of Balaton, Minnesota; Floriman, of West Allis; and Clement Van Valin, of Caldwell, are left to mourn their loss. Mrs. Humbert was of a genial disposition and she leaves many friends who deeply mourn her departure. She was a member of the Methodist church for more than fifty years and a charter member of the Ladies Aid Society connected with the church. A Christian not only in name but in practice in time of sickness -- before trained nurses cared for the sick -- she was ever ready to take her place with other neighbors in caring for them. No call but received a ready response from our departed sister who we believe has heard the “well done” of the Savior that she trusted. ----------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities as long as this message remains on all copied material.
