MILWAUKEE - James Louis Payne ‘Mr. Bio Clean’, 88, died Friday, November 12, 2004. He was born April 12, 1916, in Kansasville, to Jay and Amanda (nee: Johnson) Payne. He spent his early life in Union Grove. In 1957, he married Grace Bottomley in Florida. James was educated at the Union Grove High School and lowa State College. He served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He flew the B-24 Liberator and was also a Glider Pilot. He completed 200 missions while in Germany and was awarded the Oak Leaf Cluster. He was President of Kinzie and Payne Incorporated, formerly of St. Louis, Mo. and now of Shreveport, La., and a member of the American Legion, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #9469 in Milwaukee, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, the Masons, and the Tripoli Temple. Jim loved animals, especially his Basenji, "Talker." Survivors include his wife, Grace Payne of Milwaukee; sister, Ruth Grise of Union Grove; best friend, Gerrie Urban; special caretaker, Diane Brzozowski, both of Milwaukee; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. A military Graveside service with Honors will be held at Union Grove Cemetery, 5115 South Colony Avenue, Union Grove, on Saturday, November 20, 2004, at 12 noon. Memorials have been suggested to the Hunger Task Force.
