Funeral services for Mrs. John Payne, a resident of the village for nearly 30 years, and a native of Kenosha county, were held from the Congregational church Friday afternoon, attended by old neighbors and friends. In his sermon, Dr. F. N. Dexter spoke appreciatively of her devotion to her family and to her church, and her constant attendance upon its services as long as strength permitted. Miss Edna Meredith played organ, selections and with Miss Mary Dexter, sang the hymn, "My Jesus, as Thou Wilt." Casket bearers were chosen from her family Jack Buchan, George Meredith, Myron Moe, Jay Payne Sr., Jay Payne Jr., and James Payne, and burial was in the Union Grove cemetery, beside her husband, who passed away two years ago at the same time. Those from out-of-town attending the service included Mrs. Dorothy Dettman, Leslie Payne, Racine; Mr. and Mrs. Frank McNeill, Sturtevant; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Jones, Kenosha; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Keebler, Burlington, and old neighbors from Kansasville.
