The services were conducted by Rev. Rowland, and were largely attended by sorrowing relatives, and friends. Mr. Rhodes was born May 7, 1835 at Exleyhead, England. At the age of 7 years, he came with his parents to this country, taking up their residence in Kenosha. The same year they moved to a farm in Brighton. Deceased was married twice, his first wife being Miss Nancy Rhodes, to whom were born four sons and three daughters. One son and one daughter: passed away several years ago. Three sons and two daughters, F.H. and W. T. Rhodes, Mrs. Grunwell and Mrs. Byerly are residents of Estherville, Iowa. and Edward, a farmer near Salem, Wis. His second union was with Mrs. Sarah Murgatroyd. To this union were born three sons, Henry, Charles and Ernest, farmers of Brighton township. He is also survived by thirteen grand children and a brother, William of Burlington.
