James H. Yates, 65, member of a pioneer Racine county 
family, died Wednesday in St. Luke's hospital. His home 
was at the intersection of' Highway 41 and old Highway 
120, where he operated a farm, a grocery store and an oil 
station for many years. Mr. Yates was born April 9, 1870 
on the old James Yates Sr. estate at Highway 41, and 
Durand road, and always lived in that section. Surviving 
are his wife; one son, James at home; a daughter, Mrs. 
Myra Johnson, Stratford, Wis.; two grandchildren, and a 
brother, C. E. Yates of Racine. Funeral services will be 
held Saturday at 2 oclock in the 'Strouf Funeral home, 
Rev. F. J. Turner of the First Methodist Episcopal church 
officiating.
Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial park. The body may 
be viewed at the Strout Funeral home Friday afternoon and 
evening.
