Y., after which he came to Wisconsin, living three years in Milwaukee, then one year at Racine, then eighteen months at Janesville, after which, in 1854, he came to La Crosse, where he worked at his trade, a tailor, most of the time for eighteen years. In 1873, he took charge of the City Poor House, which is located on Sec. 15, town of Shelby. Mr. M., in 1850, was married to Christena Betz, born in Germany in 1830; they have had eight children, four of whom are living - Aurelia, Frank, John and Louis. Mr. Metz is a Democrat.
