Brigham, the well-known pioneer, died Sunday morning, September 11, 1904 in Madison, at the home of his granddaughter, Mrs. J. C. Harper. The deceased was born in Townsend, Vermont, October 19, 1823. He was a student at Townsend Academy and followed his work there by a period of teaching. He began his medical studies at Pittsfield, Mass., but completed his course at the Medical College of Vermont. In the year 1852 he married Lestina A. Gore, of Bennington, Vt., and one son, Locke W. Brigham, was born to them. For seven years Dr. Brigham practiced medicine in Bennington and then removed to Union, Wis., where he has since resided until his illness, when he has been with Mrs. J. C. Harper of Madison, and her mother, Mrs. Lyman H. Johnson of this city. Dr. Brigham in his long residence here has gathered around him a large circle of friends and acquaintances who will miss his kindly personality. His death marks the passing of one more of our old residents who was a gentleman of the old school type. The deceased leaves one brother, Bela Brigham, of Townsend, Vt., who, with his wife was present at the funeral, which occurred Tuesday at the home of Lyman H. Johnson. The Rev. Mr. Gilmore, pastor of the Unitarian church of Madison, officiated, assisted by the Congregational Quartette. Two favorite numbers were rendered "Lead Kindly Light" and "The Lord of Love My Sheperd Is." Interment was made at Maple HIll Cemetery. September 17, 1904, Badger, Evansville, WI
