Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Gabriel CRIST ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Mr. Crist continues very sick, and his physicians and friends have nearly despaired of all hopes of his recovery. One portion of his body is paralyzed. His daughter, Mrs. Byron Winston was telegraphed for and is now with him. His son arrived Saturday. His demise is looked for at any moment. October 8, 1873, Evansville Review, Evansville, WI DIED.-- We mentioned last week, of the uncertain tenure of Mr. Gabriel Crist's life, and scarcely had our edition been worked off before his spirit took its flight--about nine o'clock Tuesday night, October 7th, 1873. Of Mr. Crists early life we cannot say, nor have we had more than a business intimacy with him since we have lived here. He established himself in the drug business in Evansville, soon after the railroad was completed, having removed hither from the town of Center. He was regarded by all who knew him as a man of strict integrity and morally honest in all of his business transactions. He was a member of the Masonic Order, but entertained scruples against funeral display over deceased brethren, and was buried as a private citizen; services Wednesday at the Congregational church, of which he was an acceptable member. Sermon by Rev. J. W. Harris. His age of 59 years. October 15, 1873, Evansville Review, Evansville, WI
