Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Alice Janes DILLINGHAM ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Mrs. Alice Janes Dillingham was born in the township of Magnolia, Rock Co., Wis., Sept. 23, 1853, and died at her home in Passaic, N. J., April 1, 1907. She was married to V. C. Dillingham on the 5th of Nov. 1874. For a few years they made their home in Minnesota and then settled in Baraboo, Wis. where they lived for twenty or more years and about five years ago they moved to New Jersey. Mrs. Dillingham was the oldest of eight children and the first to be called away by death. She was the mother of four children, two of whom survive the mother. Mrs. Dillingham was a member of the Methodist church, was naturally of a cheerful disposition and an active christian always willing to help those in need and to go to the assistance of any in in need. She had a partial stroke of paralysis from which she never fully recovered but was able to be about and was out for a drive last Saturday, but was taken with another stroke and quietly passed away on Monday, being conscous to the last and fully realizing that the end of life was near. The body was brought to Evansville and the funeral services conducted by Rev. T. W. North of the Methodist church, Thursday forenoon, at the home of her mother, Mrs. C. Janes on Park street, and the body was taken to Baraboo for burial. Mr. Dillingham and one daughter accompanied the remains, the other daughter being a teacher at Sheboygan; several relatives from this city accompanied the funeral party to Baraboo. April 5, 1907, Page 3, Col. 4, Enterprise, Evansville, Wisconsin PASSED TO HER FINAL HOME The remains of Mrs. Alice Dillingham were brought to this city Thursday last, where funeral services were held at the home of her mother, Mrs. C. F. Janes, and the burial taking place in Baraboo. Mrs. Dillingham was born Sept. 12, 1853, in Magnolia, and was the eldest of eight children. In November 1874 she was married to V. C. Dillingham and went to Medford, Minn., where they resided for some time, and from there went to Baraboo, until about three years ago when they resided in New Jersey. She is survived by a husband and two daughters, and aged mother, five sisters, Mrs. McGee of Janesville, Mrs. Eva Williams of Montana, Mrs. Cora Denney of New York, Mrs. Charles Weaver and Miss.
