He has been confined to his house for a number of weeks and in spite of medical aid and the best of care, he continues to fail. We hope to learn of an improvement before another week, but our fears are against us now. July 24, 1867, Evansville Citizen, p. 4, col. 1, Evansville, Wisconsin DIED. In Evansville, October 5, 1867, Stephen W. Fairbanks, aged 54 years and five months. Mr. Fairbanks was a worthy member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in this place and for a number of years bore a Christian and exemplary character. By his social nature and his business life he acquired a wide circle of friends and acquaintances. For nearly five months he had been confined to his house by a lingering sickness, but with Christian patience and heroic fortitude bore all his sufferings with calmness and serenity till death called him home, to whose mandates he, without a struggle or groan, quietlyr esigne dhimself early on Sunday morning last.
