Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Frank GIBBS ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ OBITUARY Mr. Frank Gibbs, aged 71 years, died from a stroke of paralysis at his home on Madison Street, Thursday morning at 1 o'clock. The deceased was born in Sackets Harbor, N. Y. Was brought to what is known as the old Gibbs homestead at Gibbs' Lake in Porter township when about 16 years of age, sick in bed with rheumatism. Moved to what is known as his old farm on the prairie in 1860, where the family resided four years and then moved to this city, where they have since resided continuously since. Mr. Gibbs was married to Miss Annis Foster, Sept. 7, 1859; the fruits of which are two children, Ella, now the wife of I. A. Libby, and Frank, Jr., proprietor of Oak Grove Dairy. Aside from his wife and these two children, he leaves a brother Joseph and sister, Mrs. Carrington, now residing on the old homestead. All of whom have the deepest sympathy of a host of friends in this their great breavement. The deceased has been an invalid from disease of the stomach for more than twenty years, but his real final illness dates only from New Year's morning, when he suddenly became worse and passed away as stated. he was a kind, indulgent husband and father, who has a wide circle of sympathizing friends. The funeral will be held at the home Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock, with his nephews for bearers. Rev. C. A. Wilson officiating clergyman, W. F. Biglow undertaker.
