L. Lord, postmaster at Edgerton, is undoubtedly dead at this writing as yesterday's papers said he could not live the day out. He will be well remembered as an associate surgeon with our townsman Dr. J. M. Evans in the 13th Regiment during the war. February 17, 1893, Enterprise, p. 1, col. 3, Evansville, Wisconsin The Rev. H. Sewell was telegraphed for at Marshal to officiate at Dr. Lord's funeral at Edgerton Tuesday. February 24, 1893, Enterprise, p. 1, col. 2, Evansville, Wisconsin FUNERAL OF DR. S. L. LORD No Church in Edgerton Large Enough, So They Took the Opera House The funeral of Dr. S. L. Lord in Edgerton was attended by so large a number that no church in the city would accommodate them and the opera house was used. Stores were closed and business generally suspended. A number of army friends and professional associates from Madison and Janesville came. The floral offerings were the most profuse and elegant ever seen in Edgerton.
