She was born in Center County, Pa., in 1826, with her parents moved to Venango County in the same state where she married David Smith in 1847, who preceded her to the better land four years ago. In 1867 they moved to Wisconsin and located on a farm two miles east of this city where they resided until nine years ago when they moved to Evansville, where she resided until her death. Ten children were born to them; six sons and four daughters, eight of whom are left to mourn the loss of a kind Christian mother. She and her husband joined the M. E. church in 1879. She was a faithful worker in the Church and Missionary Society. Her one great comfort was doing for her loved ones. She was a kind neighbor, beloved by all in the society in which she moved. Thus she has been borne to the one whom she knew so well. Scrapbook of obituaries, weddings, biographies compiled by James Ballard, Sexton of Maple Hill Cemetery, Evansville, Wisconsin in late 1800s.
