Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Clara WINSTON ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ OBITUARY Died, Feb. 19th, 1868, of Typhoid fever at the residence of her parents, in the village of Evansville, CLARA E., daughter of Reuben and Helen Winston, aged 13 years, 3 months and 26 days. Clara, by her urbane manners and kindness of heart, had won the affection and esteem of all who knew her. Her funeral which was attended on the 21st., was one of the largest and most solemn ever witnessed in the village. The Faculty and Students of the Seminary attended her funeral in a body; not merely formal, but the glistening tears and heaving sigh showed that Clara was truly loved and will be missed by many. Her numerous relatives especially her parents, were deeply afflicted. But she is gone- she has escaped many, very many trials and temptations-she now sleeps, but she will awake to a holier and happier life. Parents, Friends, Schoolmates: Clara can never come to you, but you can go to her. March 11, 1868, Evansville Citizen, p. 4, col. 2, Evansville, Wisconsin
