Ames, 81, died at his home in Clinton after having been ill for four days. He was born on March 12, 1844, at Bersline, Vt., and was married at Pittsford, Vt., on March 21, 1867 to Miss Emma Smith. For the past 40 years they have made their home in Clinton. Surviving are his widow, one son Dr. J. W. Ames of this city, and one daughter, Mrs. M. A. Goodsell, of Dixon, Ill. Another daughter, Mary Ames Noble, died in 1905. Funeral services were held at the home, Wednesday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, the Rev. G. H. Gurgink officiating.
