Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: William ANTES ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ William Herbert Antes 1861-1924 William Herbert Antes, son of Jacob and Margaret Antes, born July 21, 1861, at LaSalle, Monroe County, Michigan. Died January 13, at the home of his father, at 518 Cherry Street, Rockfod, Illinois. Mr. Antes came to Illinois with his parents in 1867, where he made his home until about 1892. He was married to Miss Mary Pullen of this city in 1894, where he had already embarked in the furniture business, which he conducted for several years, later moving to Des Moines, Iowa, where he organized the Des Moines Casket Co., holding the position of president of this large institution for several years, until two years ago, when ill health forced him to retire. Since that time Mr. Antes has spent the summers at his summer home at Found Lake and his winters at his home in Rockford. Brief funeral services were held at his father's home in Rockford, Tuesday afternoon, the remains being brought to Evansville Wednesday, where funeral services were held at the home of his brother, R. M. Antes, Rev. Hanaman of the M. E. church officiating, interment being in Maple Hill cemetery. Mr. Antes leaves to mourn his loss, besides his wife, one son, Herbert P., an attorney at Duluth, Minn., an aged father, in his ninety-sixth year, one sister, Miss Elizabeth Antes, a brother, Joseph B. Antes, all of Rockford, and another brother, R. M. Antes, of this city. The deceased was prominent in Masonic and Shriner circles in the state and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
