He was the son of David Ayres, formerly of this place; was born Sept. 22, 1863, at Footville. He leaves to mourn his loss a mother who was with him at the time of his death and one brother, Charles Ayers, of Sioux City, Iowa. He was an earnest Christian, highly respected by all who knew him. He was a worthy member of the Masonic lodge, the Modern Woodmen and the O.R.T. The remains arrived on the evening train Thursday and were taken to the M.E. church where brief services were held on Friday morning at 9 o'clock, conducted by Rev. H. L. Williams; music was furnished by Msdms. Williams and Cory. The pallbearers were H. T. Harper, W. H. Cory, W. J. Owen, H. D. Becker, A. J. Snyder and M. Ehrlinger. Interment at Grove Cemetery.
