Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Julia Austin BAILEY ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Mrs. Julia Antoinette Bailey, who with her husband, Edwin Bailey, settled in Footville sixty years ago, died at 5:20 o'clock a.m., Thursday, February 16, at the home of her only daughter, Mrs. Ira U. Fisher, 327 Madison street, Janesville, Wis., at the age of eighty-four years and five months. Her health had been gradually failing for a long time. Mrs. Bailey was born in Goshen, Connecticut, September 6, 1828, her maiden name being Julia Austin. She was married to Edwin Bailey and soon afterwards moved with him to the village of Footville, which had recently been platted by Mr. Foote. Mr. Bailey died forty-one years ago. His widow continued to reside there until five years ago when she went to Janesville to make her home with her daughter, Mrs. Ira Fisher, her only surviving child. A brother, Henry Austin of Footville, died just eight years ago today. Mrs. Bailey also leaves three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the home at ten o'clock Saturday morning, the Rev. Father Willman of Trinty church officiating. Interment was at the Grove cemetery in Center. The pallbearers were John H. Fisher, James Roherty, James Meehan, and Henry S. Stevens.--Footville Hustler.
