B. Ballard Dies Saturday In County Hospital; Funeral Services Held Tuesday O. B. "Dick" Ballard, 82, a pioneer resident of Evansville, died early Saturday morning in the county hospital where he had been taken two weeks ago. He had been failing in health for the past several years and was totally blind at the time of his death. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Roderick mortuary, the Rev. Robert H. Pratt, pastor of the Baptist church, officiating. Burial was made in Maple Hill cemetery with Nay Gillman, William Campbell, S. E. Barnard, Frank Chase, H. O. Walton, and Fred L. Janes as pallbearers. Mr. Ballard was born Oct. 21, 1847 in the state of New York and came to Wisconsin with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Ballard, when a small boy. His eye sight had been failing for the past 35 years and he was practically blind during the past ten years. He was preceeded in death by his wife, parents, and two brothers. Surviving are two nephews, Byrl Ballard and Lawrence Ballard, Los Angeles, Calif; one niece, Mrs. Sterling Beath, Los Angeles, Calif.; and several cousins.
