Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Joseph BISHOP ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ After an illness of two week's duration, Joseph Bishop died at his home in this city last Saturday, aged eighty years. Mr. Bishop was born in England and came to this country when a small child, with his parents, who settled in the town of Magnolia, where Mr. Bishop grew to manhood. In 1877 he was married to Miss Emma Lee, also of Magnolia, they living on a farm until about twenty-six years ago when he moved to Evansville, and purchasing the Evansville Hosue, went into the hotel business, which he continued to the time of his death. Mr. Bishop is a member of the G. A. R. of this city, having served in the Civil War, as a member of the Co. M., second Wisconsin Calvary. The funeral services were held Monday, the Rev. Saunderson, of the Methodist church officiating, his brothers of the G. A. R. assisting.
