Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Lydia BLACKMUN ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ DIED.--Mrs. Lydia Blackmun, one of our very oldest and earliest citizens, died Sunday night, January 29th 1888, at 8:50 o'clock, at the extreme old age of 89 years and 4 months. Had she lived until next October she would have been even 90 years old. Her husband died some twelve years ago, and later, two sons, Otis and Lewis. She leaves three sons and three daughters. Lester P. who lives in Chicago, was present at her death, having reached her bedside but a few hours before her death. Gilbert lives in Iowa, and William in California. With her husband and family, she moved into the town of Union some 38 years ago and settled on the farm now occupied by J. C. Hopkins, a mile or so east of Evansville. Mrs. Blackmun had been a worthy member of the M. E. church nearly all her life, and with her husband did much towards establishing Methodism in Evansville. She was buried Tuesday from her old church, Rev. Dr. Wheeler preaching the sermon. January 31, 1888, Evansville Review, Evansville, Wisconsin
