Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Frances Alice BLAKELEY ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Mrs. Frances Alice Blakeley died at the residence of her daughter, Mrs. F. A. Babcock, in this city last Saturday morning, Jan. 20, 1906, at 2:30 o'clock. Frances A. Smith was born in Michigan, May 8, 1830, and was married in Pennsylvania June 6, 1849, to Mr. Edwin Blakeley; came to Wisconsin in 1854 and has resided here since, with the exception of a year and a half spent in Kansas. Seven children were born to this union, viz, Frances A., Francena Luella, George A., William, Fred, Eugene and Harry. Luella died when only ten months old. Fred died in infancy, and Dr. George A. Blakeley died about two years ago. The husband died several years ago. The surviving members are Mrs. F. A. Babcock, William, Eugene and Harry, all of Evansville. There are thirteen grand children, two brothers, Chas. Smith of Gerard, Pa., and Henry Smith of Crawford County, Pa., and one sister, Mrs. Margaret Ordeway, of Albion, Pa. Mrs. Blakeley has been a great sufferer for many years, but since last spring her health has been failing very rapidly; all through her long illness she was tenderly cared for by loving hands, and the children feel that in death of mother, their best earthly friend has gone, but her influence will abide in their lives. The funeral services were held at the late residence on Monday afternoon, the Rev. James Churm officiating and the remains were interred in the family lot at Maple Hill cemetery.
