Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Mary BOYCE ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Passed Quietly Away Mrs. Mary Boyce Mrs. Mary Boyce died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Loomis, in Janesville on Thursday morning, Oct. 16, 1902, aged nearly 88 years. She was born in New York and came to Wisconsin in 1846. She was the mother of three children, Mesdames Eager, Loomis and the late Mrs. Sidney Smith. Mrs. Eager sorrows under a double affliction, her husband having passed away on Wednesday morning, just twenty-four hours previous to her mother's death. A remarkable coincidence marked the death of Mrs. Boyce and her husband, who died eleven years ago this month at the home of Dr. Loomis. Mr. Boyce's death was also preceded by the death of his son-in-law, Sidney Smith passing away at his home in this city twelve hours before the death of Mr. Boyce. Funeral services will be held at the Loomis home this, Saturday afternoon. October 18, 1902, The Badger, p. 1, col. 5, Evansville, Wisconsin Mrs. Maria M. Boyce, 88 years of age less one day, died at the home of her daughter Mrs. E. E. Loomis in Janesville, Thursday morning, Oct. 16, 1902. The deceased had been ill for nearly a year, spending a part of the time with her daughter, Mrs. A. Eager, in this city. A rather unusual coincident is this death and that of her son-in-law Mr. Eager in so close proximity, while her husband died within about 12 hours of her son-in-law Mr. W. S. Smith, some eleven years ago. Mrs. Boyce was a very ardent, consistent christian woman all of her life and very active in the pursuits of care and happiness of her family in her younger days, earning well for herself the splendid care given her by her daughters in her declining years, and they have the deepest sympathy of this entire community in their double affliction at this time. The funeral of Mrs. Boyce will be held at the home of her daughter in Janesville, Saturday afternoon and her remains laid beside her husband in the cemetery in that city.
