GEORGE SAUNDERS BRADLEY Born at Canterbury, N. H., May 28, 1830; died at Hillsdale, Mich. Aug 8, 1900. With the exception of two years at North Parsonfield Me., as instructor in a seminary, Mr. Bradley's work was wholly in the West, as student, teacher, pastor and editor. He was at Oberlin College three years, and after his graduation helped to found the Free Will Baptist College, at Hillsdale, Mich remaining there as teacher for three years, and for a longer time maintaining the position of trustee and member of the faculty. By birthright he was a Congregationalist, and successful pastorates in that denomination were held in Mt. Pleasant and Evansville Wis., at Wilton, bEdford and Fontanelle, Ia., at Ft. Scott and McPherson, kan., and at Hudson and Grand Ledge, Mich. Dec. 12, 1858, at Hillsdale, he was united in marriage with Ann S. Weaver, a woman of great piety and endowed with rare intellect and gifts. For more than forty years she has been his colaborer. His last pastorate was at Grand Ledge, Mich., which he finally resigned in 1897. Since that time he has lived at Hillsdale attended by his wife and their only son, Charles. Mr. Bradley's work is not to be compassed within "three score years and ten." It is measureless and of rare quality. During his pastorate in Evansville he edited and published The Journal, a bright, entertaining weekly. -- Congregationalist.
