Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Cora BUDLONG ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ MRS. CORA BUDLONG DIES SUDDENLY For several years Mrs. Cora Budlong has been in rather poor health. During the past few weeks she has been unable to be at her work, and during the latter part of the time had to be cared for by friends. But it was not expected that the end would come for some time. She passed away very suddenly Sunday forenoon at her home on South Madison Street. Her maiden name was Cora Eugenia Smith. She was born in Norway, New York, July 24, 1847. She was married to John W. Budlong at West Schuyler on August 18, 1863. She was the mother of two children, Alma, who died in infancy, and Warren Smith Budlong now residing in Oakland, Cal. For the past forty years she has been a resident of Evansville. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and of the order of the Eastern Star. Those who knew her well praise her generousity and kindness. She was at all times thoughtful of those in her employ in her home, as well as in the store, when she was engaged in business. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon in the Methodist Episcopal church, with the pastor, the Rev. C. E. Coon officiating. The burial was in Maple Hill cemetery. Her son was unable to reach here but sent the following telegram to V. C. Holmes: "Am grieved to hear of mother's death. Words fail to express my gratitude for those who have so kindly cared for her." W. S. Budlong. December 10, 1914, Evansville Review, p. 4, col. 2, Evansville, Wisconsin
