M. Carlson was born in Christiansand, Norway, Sept. 9, 1875. In June 1889, when a lad of 14, he came with his family to America and settled in Evansville where he has since lived. Thanksgiving day, 1903, he was united in marriage to Miss Cora Smith at the Smith homestead on the prairie. To them have been born three children, Lucy, age 7; Elsie, who was buried January last, age 4, and little Stephen, the baby. The deceased has three brothers and five sisters, who with the widow and two children and a large circle of relations he leaves to mourn his untimely death. The funeral was held from Scheibles undertaking rooms Sunday afternoon and the services were conducted by Rev. C. H. Meyers, the burial being in Maple Hill Cemetery.
