MARIA CHASE PASSES AWAY AFTER BRIEF ILLNESS The death of Mrs. Maria Chase took place Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C. Broughton, following a sickness of just a week. She had always been in almost perfect health until the few days before her taking away. Her maiden name was Maria Parcher. She was born in Poland, Maine, in 1831. There she attended school and spent her childhood. In 1851 she was married to Thomas J. Chase of Danville, Maine. They came to Wisconsin in 1855 and settled on a farm in the town of Center. They worked hard and endured all of the hardships incident to the pioneer life of those days. To them there were born five children, all of whom are living: Frank A. Chase, Mrs. Emma A. Cain of Evansville, Mrs. Alma Andrew of Magnolia, Mrs. Hattie Broughton of this city, and Mrs. Hannah McCoy of Pittsville, Wis. Since the death of her husband in 1888 she has made her home with her children, mostly with Mrs. Broughton. The funeral was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. Broughton, Tuesday afternoon and was conducted by the pastor of the Advent church of Magnolia, Rev. C. H. Hewitt. The burial was in Maple Hill cemetery.
