She had been in poor health for some time being attacked with the grip a year ago and never fully recovered. At an early hour this morning she was able to rise and talked with her husband concerning the planting of some potatoes in the garden. She then returned to bed, and Mr. Clough went out to plant the potatoes. On returning he found his wife dead. Mrs. Clough was born in Newton-near-Cheshire, England, in 1828 and came to America with her mother, daughter, and two brothers (John and William Thoroughgood) in 1865, and since that time has resided at her home on North Main Street, where she died. Her mother died fifteen years ago. Besides her husband, George Clough, she leaves one daughter, Mrs. Emily A. Guild, two brothers, John and William Thoroughgood, besides a large circle of friends. The funeral will be held from the family home, 260 North Main street, Saturday afternoon at two o'clock. Rev. James Slidell, rector of Trinity church, conducted the services. The song service was rendered by a quartet, consisting of Mrs. Q. A. Curtis, Miss Nellie Harlow, George Snyder and William Garbut. A large number of friends escorted the remains to Oak Hill cemetery, the pall bearers being George Scarcliff, George Colling, William Burchell, E. J. Kent, John Goodwin and Benjamin Grove.
