Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Mary COVERT ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Mrs. Mary Covert, 96, died Tuesday afternoon in the home of her niece, Mrs. William Wainwright, from the infirmities of old age. Mrs. Covert, formerly Mary Warner, was born March 15, 1830, in Williamsport, Pa. the daughter of a minister. Her mother died when she was a small child and she went to Cummings, South Chicago, to make her home with her sister, Mrs. John Kleinman, where she grew to young womanhood, later coming to make her home with two brothers at Storytown, near Oregon, where she was married to Rile Colby. After several years, Mr. Colby died, and 40 years ago she married James Covert and they made their home in Brodhead and then at the Veterans' Home, Waupaca. Mr. Covert died 15 years ago. Eight years ago Mrs. William Wainwright brought her aunt to Evansville, and has cared for her ever since. Mrs. Covert attended the Episcopal church and took a great interest in and contributed to charitable and church organizations. She is survived by her niece, Mrs. Wainwright, and nephew, John Warner, this city, and several other nieces and nephews. Funeral services, which will be private, will be held at 1:30 p.m. today, in the Wainwright home. Burial will be in the Wainwright lot, Maple Hill cemetery.
