Dresbach Valentine M. Dresbach was born in the town of Harmony, N. J., Dec. 27, 1828 where he received his early training and education. In 1851 he was united in marriage to Sarah Fitzer of Bethlehem, Penn. The same year the young couple left their home and friends in the east and journeyed toward the great new western empire. They made their first home in the town of Verona, Dane county, Wisconsin. Here they lived happily for five years, moving in 1896 to what is known as Jug Prairie where they lived on a farm and prospered for ten years. Since 1868 the Dresbach home has been in Evansville. Mr. Dresbach was one of the first members of the Grange when that movement among the farmers was first started. He was always known among his associates as a man of honesty and uprightness, a man who tried to follow as the motto of his life the Golden Rule. Since the death of the wife in 1904 his home has been with his daughters, Mrs. J. H. Johnson of Beloit and Mrs. E. J. Reckord of Evansville. All of Mr. Dresbach's sisters and brothers, with one exception, Anthony, of Pine Island, Minnesota, have preceded him to the eternal country. For several months his strength has been failing, and after an illness of only a few days he passed away Sunday afternoon. The funeral was held at the home of Mrs. Reckord Tuesday afternoon and was in charge of Mr. D. Quincy Grabill of the Congregational church. The burial was in Maple Hill cemetery. Those present from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Johnson and Leslie Reckord of Beloit, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Walker of Brooklyn, and MIss Margaret Dresbach of Verona, Wis.
