Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Mary A. ELLIS ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Died July 23d 1887, at her home in Union, Mary A., wife of E. F. Ellis, of consumption, after a lingering illness of nearly one year; aged 55 years. Mrs. Ellis leaves, besides her husband, four sons, all grown to manhood, having buried her eldest son and only daughter a few years since. She has been called by her Creator to that better land which we can only see by faith. Her death is but a departure into a new and better life. She had known for sometime that she could not survive long, but was satisfied and ready to go. She bore her sufferings with that same quiet patience that characterized her whole life to the end. She had that perfect abhorence to the use of alcohol that during her sufferings she would take no medicine of which alcohol formed any portion. Her devotion to her family was remarkable. Her parents being of that strictly religious character that she had few evil tendencies to overcome. She had no concealments or ill designs, but ever carried her heart upon her daily life. She believed a successful life was one borne out in well doing. Evansville Review, July 29, 1887, Evansville Wisconsin
