Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Lucy Green EWING ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ DEATH OF MRS. CHAS. H. EWING Word was received here early Friday morning that Mrs. Ewing had passed away Thursday afternoon. She had been visiting at the home of her niece, Mrs. Frank Wolf in Two Rivers. While there she was stricken with pneumonia, and for nearly two weeks put up a struggle against that dread disease. Dr. M. L. Ewing of this city was in constant attendance at the bedside of her mother. When Mrs. Ewing breathed the last her three living children were present with her, Dr. Ewing and Mrs. H. A. Langemak of Evansville, and Robert G. Ewing of Oregon, Ill. She was taken to Appleton Saturday for interment, where the funeral services were held in the cemetery chapel, in charge of Rev. John Faville, of the Congregational church, her former pastor, assisted by Mrs. Ewing's cousin, Rev. Henry Coleman of Milwuakee. Miss Lucy Green was born in 1835 at Genesee, New York, one of a family of four sisters. When she was a small girl her family moved to Flushing, Michigan. Here her childhood was spent. In 1856 she was united in marriage to Chas. H. Ewing. Their home was in Michigan until Mr. Ewing's death in 1873, when Mrs. Ewing and her children moved to Appleton, Wis., where their home was until about twenty years ago. For fourteen years she has lived in Evansville, making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Langemak. She was a faithful member of the Congregational church, and of the Woman's Missionary Society. She was interested in Christian work, at home and in other lands, and did all in her power, in her simple yet efficient manner, to promote all that makes people happier and better.
