Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Mrs. Albert FREEHAUFF ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ OBITUARY Mrs. Albert Freehauff, one of the most highly respected residents of Porter died peacefully at her home Wednesday morning, Oct. 18, 1911, aged 67 years, 9 months and 20 days. She had been ailing for the past two years when she suddenly became the worse. All her children were summoned and were at her bedside when the final call came. She was born in Germany, Dec. 28, 1843. At the age of 19 she came with her parents to Watertown, Wis., where she resided several years and then came to Janesville where she was married to Albert Freehauff, Sept. 30, 1866. They moved to the town of Porter in 1883 where she has since resided. Mrs. Freehauff was a good and highly respected neighbor, a faithful wife, a devoted mother and a devout Christian. To worship in God's house was the joy of her life. Her seat is now vacant. She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, four daughters, Mrs. Edith Ahara, Evansville, Mrs. Mary Watts, Deerwood, Minn., Mrs. Emma Sorg, Watertown, S. D., Miss Ella Freehauff, Evansville and two sons, Chas. Freehauff, Cresco, Iowa, Geo. Freehauff, Evansville six half-brothers and seven grandchildren. The funeral was held from her late home Oct. 20, and was very largely attended. The Rev. C. E. Coon sang, Nearer My God to Thee and Jesus Lover of My Soul, and Mrs. H. J. Kohlhepp sang, "Ich Vill Streben." The services were conducted by Rev. H. J. Kohlhepp who was assisted by Rev. C. E. Coon. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. The pall bearers were her two sons, Chas. and Geo., and her two.... Wm. Sorg. The interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. October 26, 1911, Evansville Review, p. 4, col. 2, evansville, Wisconsin
