Mr. Robert Graham, a well known resident of this city, was called to Clinton last Sunday on account of sickness among his horses which he had there. He was returning on a train at eight o'clock and was but one mile north of Clinton when he became car sick and went to the door for air. The swift motion of the train and the faintness of the body cause him to loose his hold and he was thrown from the car. He lay there in an unconscious condition until picked up by a freight crew which followed at three o'clock. He was taken to the hospital upon reaching Janesville, and it was found necessary to amputate the left leg below the knee. The other foot was badly bruised. Mrs. Graham was sent for and went Tuesday afternoon in company with her sister and Dr. Evans to visit the injured man. Mrs. Graham remained only to see her husband succumb during the night. The remains arrived in this city Thursday noon accompanied by C. H. Spencer. The funeral occured Friday morning from the Free Baptist church the Rev. M. C. Miner officiating, assisted by the Rev. J. E. Coleman. Eighteen years ago the deceased married Miss Hattie Tomlin, a young woman of exceptionally fine character. Five sons and the wife live to survive the loss of a kind father and husband. The deceased was forty-one years of age. Interment was made in Evansville cemetery beside his parents.
