Miss Emma H. Griswold died at St. Mary's hospital in Watertown, December
26t h, aged 75 years. She was born in Winsor Locks, Conn., on March 31,
1848. She has been a resident of Watertown since 1853. Mrs. Griswold was
known in this city as she has spent much time for several years past at the
home of her nephew, O. D. P. Chapin, East Main St. and during her frequent
visits here formed quite an acquaintance, and her friends are grieved to
learn of her sudden passing away. Funeral services were held from the
Congregational church, of which she had been a member since a young woman,
on Dec. 29th. Interment in the family lot in Oak Hill cemetery. The bearers
were old time friends of the deceased, four of whom had been in the employ
of Mr. Chapin's father as far back as fifty years ago. O. D. P. Chapin
attended the funeral services.
