Moffitt was born at Mukwonago, Wis. While she was a small child her parents moved to near Pontiac, Mich., but later returned to Wisconsin, settling at Beloit. Here at the home of her parents, May 8, 1883, she was united in marriage with Henry A. Hartin. They set up their home at Spring Valley, and since then have lived in Brodhead, Brooklyn and for the past eight years they have lived in Evansville. There has been born to them five children, two girls and three boys. The elder of the two girls died a few years since. Four of the children survive the mother, Mrs. Susie Funkle, Fred J., Charley, and Robert, who were all present at the funeral. About twenty-four years ago, Mrs. Hartin was converted at Brodhead and united with the Methodist church December 10, 1911. She with her husband and youngest son were baptized and united with the Free Baptist church of Evansville. During all the year since her conversion she has been an earnest Christian. For nearly twenty years she has been most of the time a great sufferer. As the years have passed she has come into closer and closer touch with the Christ she loved. And in these past few months of most intense suffering and pain her faith has never faltered, but taken a firmer hold on God. In this experience Mrs. H. O. Meyers has been under God a great help to her, and many times has her pastor sat beside her bed and listened to her words of confidence and faith. She passed from the pain and suffering to be at rest from it all about nine o'clock Wednesday morning, Oct. 10, aged forty- six years. She leaves beside the husband and four children, four sisters, Mrs. Mary Brunger of Brodhead, Mrs. Rhoda Moore, Lacona, New York, Mrs. Estella Edwards, North Dakota, and Mrs. Jessie Broth, and a stepmother, Mrs. Susan Moffitt, Malabar, Florida.
