M. J. HAWLEY Mrs. Hawley was born Feb. 24, 1827, in Jefferson Co., N. Y. In 1854 she came to this county, and was married to Mr. John W. Winston, April 1857, with whom she lived happily till his death in Oct. 1866, since which she has continued to live in this village. May 15, 1872 she was married to Mr. D. S. Hawley of Argyle in this State. Mrs. Hawley was universally respected in the community; she was especially kind towards the sick, and doubtless many will miss her acts of kindness. Shortly before her death, at her own request, she was baptized into the Christian faith, and partook of the Sacrament with a number of her friends. She identified herself with the M. E. church. She passed away of consumption, on the 10th of April, after an illness of five months. The funeral took place at the M. E. Church, conducted by the Rev. E. Robinson, on Sabbath, April 12. The house was completely packed, the other churches having withdrawn their services. Many were unable to gain even a standing place.
