Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Charles Clinton HOAGUE ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Charles Clinton Hoague was born February 17, 1854, near Monroe, Green County, Wisconsin and died suddenly July 21, 1919, from heart trouble and dropsy at his home near Gibb's Lake. Since his fourteenth year he has resided in Rock County, and since 1879 has been a resident of Porter township. On September 12, 1877, he was married to Mary A. Carrington, also a resident of Porter. He became a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints June 12, 1892, and for many years has been president of the Janesville branch of that church. He has also acted as bishop's agent and treasurer of the southern district. He has been town clerk of the town of Porter for over ten years and for several years was chairman of the town board of supervisors, making him a member of the county board. All these positions but voice the confidence and respect his friends and acquaintances held for him and many beside his relatives miss his cheering words and ready help in time of need. Of his family there are left to mourn; his wife, two sons, and one grandchild. Also two brothers, W. L. Hoague of Montana and M. I. Hoague of Janesville, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. Eva M. Stroebel, Peoria, Ill., and Mrs. Carrie E. Baker, Janesville, Wis., and several nieces and nephews. Interment in Maple Hill Cemetery, W. A. McDowell of Plano, Ill., officiating.
