Hubbard The death of this esteemed resident on January 4, 1912, removed from this community one of the most highly respected citizens of Evansville. The deceased had been in poor health for several years, and had been confined to his house for the last few months. He was born in Berwick, Maine, Nov. 13, 1834, and when but a young man he came west with his brother, H. W. Hubbard, and settled on a farm on Jug Prairie. In 1864, he enlisted in the Second Wisconsin cavalry, in which he served until the end of the war. On Jan. 4, 1873, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Kate Bly, and died on the 39th anniversary of their marriage. Besides his wife, he leaves to mourn his loss, two brothers, Calvin Hubbard of New Hampshire, Cas. Hubbard of Berwick, Maine, and a nephew, Frank L. Hubbard, of this city. A great many floral offerings were made by his many friends. Rev. Chas. E. Coon of the Methodist church, preached the funeral sermon, and the interment was in Maple Hill cemetery.
