Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Harriet Briggs HUNT ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Mrs. Harriet Briggs Hunt, a resident of Rock county for over sixty years, passed away Wednesday afternoon at 2:30, at the home of her son, Chas. Briggs, at Magnolia. She was aged 84 years, seven months and 22 days. Since January she has been confined to her bed because of a fall which fractured her hip. Harriet Parson was born in the state of New York in 1827 and married Daniel Briggs at her New York home. In 1850 they came to Wisconsin where she lived the remainder of her life. Her husband died about nine years ago, and later Mrs. Briggs married Mr. Hunt who preceeded her in death about a year ago. Mrs. Hunt was the mother of six children, four of whom survive her, Mrs. A. E. Olson of Merrillan, Wis., Mrs. Mert Cummings of Tracey, Minnesota, Henry Briggs of Janesville, and Charles of Magnolia. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. J. Story of Evansville, and one brother, Mr. Parson of Oregon, Wis., five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Funeral services were held from her son's home Saturday morning at 9:30 conducted by Rev. E. B. Arnold, and song services by Mesdames Minnie Harper and Lydia Arnold, and Messrs. John Troon and Paul Chase. Those from out of town to attend the funeral were, Mrs. Story and Messrs. and Mesdames Axtell and Winston of Evansville, Mrs. Cummings and daughter of Minnesota, MR. and Mrs. Henry Briggs of Janesville, and Will Briggs and wife of northern Illinois.
