Hurlbut died at his home in this city Saturday morning, Aug. 26, 1911. He suffered a stroke of paralysis Wednesday and never returned to consciousness. The funeral was held Saturday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the house and the interment was in Maple Hill, Rev. C. E. Coon officiating at the services. Mr. Hurlbut was born in Essex Co., New York June 24, 1828, his father later removing to Chautauqua county, and when 15 years of age came with his parents to Wisconsin, continuing to reside in this state until his 27th year when he went to Minnesota, where he lived for 26 years. He married Mary A. Battles Aug. 3, 1853, in the then village of Stoughton and they lived together 47 years until the time of her death in January, 1900. Mr. Hurlbut has been a resident of Evansville since his return from Minnesota about 32 years, and part of that time was an employee of the Baker Mfg. Co.
