Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Verna Evalyn JANES ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Verna Evalyn Janes, the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Janes, died Monday evening after a serious illness. The deceased had not been strong for several years, having had an illness a few years ago that weakened her constitution. She was born July 29, 1904, and leaves two brothers, Lawrence and Burton, as well as her parents, to mourn her loss. The funeral took place from the home Wednesday afternoon, the funeral services being conducted by Revs. O. W. Smith, of this city, and D. Quincy Grabill, of Fort Atkinson. The profusion of floral offerings from the Liberty Chorus, Sunday School class, school and classmates, the Eight Weeks Club and from many other organizations and personal friends of the family were beautiful in the extreme. The interment was made in Maple Hill Cemetery, eight grade boys acting as bearers, and eight girl friends as flower girls. In the passing of little Verna Janes a precious sweetly patient life has gone to her reward. Since a severe illness some years ago, Verna has not been strong, and though all that science and love could do for her had been done, she was called to her Eternal Home. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Janes feel deeply with them in this, the sad hour of their bereavement. February 6, 1919, Evansville Review, Evansville, Wisconsin
