Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Aaron JONES ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, June 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Obituary Aaron Jones, a well-known and much-respected citizen, passed away at his home in this city at 3 o'clock Sunday morning. His death followed a stroke of paralysis which he had last Thursday and from which he never rallied. He was seventy-five years of age. He had not been well for some time, having suffered a stroke of paralysis about six years ago, and has had several attacks since. Since Septmeber he has been almost helpless, and has been tenderly cared for by his son, Lauren, at whose home he had spent two years. Mr. Jones was born in Wales in 1834 and came to America when about thirteen years old. He has lived on a farm five miles west of Evansville until fifteen years ago, when he retired from farm life and moved into town. He was married in 1855 to Eliza Edmunds and is survived by his widow, six sons, Lauren H., Arford, Thomas, and Charley, all of Evansville, Walter of Albany, George of Manitoba, Canada; a daughters, Mrs. Walter Williams of Albany, several grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Tuesday at 12 o'clock at the house and 2 o'clock in the chuch at the Welsh settlement, Rev. T. W. North of this city conducting the services at both places. The interment was in the cemetery at the Welsh church. Coming to Wisconsin with his parents in 1846, from Radnorshire, Wales, a home was made in the English and Welsh settlement near Albany, where the youthful days of Mr. Jones were spent. In November 1852, he was united in marriage to Miss Eliza Edmunds of Albany, to which union eight children were born, seven of whom are still living and are Arford, George, Lauren, Mrs. Elizabeth Williams, William, Charles, Thomas and Walter, all of whom, except George who is a resident of Canada, reside near and in this city. Fourteen years ago Mr. Jones gave up farm life and made his home in this city, where his wife and two sons still reside. The funeral was held Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. T. W.
