In the springtime of manhood with the future looking bright; urgently endeavoring to carve a name for himself in the business of the world; the sudden severance of worldly ties as well as relative ties has cast a spriit of sorrow over many of his friends. Born in Porter Township thirty-four years ago, his home has been there as well as in this city, where till within the past two years his home has been. Two years ago he resigned from his duties with the Baker Manufacturing Company, and took a business course in Rockford, where he graduated with honors. Last March he went to Lamoore, Cal., where he intended to eventually go into business and make a home for himself. While here, he was amost examplary young man, like and respected by all, especially in church work where he was an indefatigable worker. Jesse was the third of a family of five, Ed and Owen L. of this city, Miss Letta of Chicago, and Mrs. Mina Graves of Sparta, all of whom are in the city at present. The remains arrived here yester morn and were taken to the home of O. L. Jones, a brother, where they remain till this afternoon when funeral services will be held in the Free Baptist Church at two thirty, the Rev. Ellen A. Copp of Madison officiating. Interment to be made in Maple Hill cemetery. The cause of his death was from a gun shot wound. The floral offerings were many, mostly of roses, and covered the casket from the view of beholders. Many beautiful and elaborate pieces came from the shop boys in the Baker Manufacturing company in whose hearts the deceased held a warm place.
