Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: Sarah JONES ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, February 2007 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ Death of Mrs. David Jones Again it becomes our painful duty to announce the sad death of a kind friend of our boyhood's happy days. After a long and painful sickness from cancer of the breast, Sarah Emily, the beloved wife of Mr. David Jones, and daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse D. Aller, was "Safe landed on that peaceful shore. Where pilgrims meet to part no more." About four weeks since, Mr. Aller, being informed that his daughter could live but a few days, went to her home near Logansville, Wis., and brought her to his home about two miles east of this place, where she received the tenderest care of parents and friends up to Tuesday morning, July 31, when the angel of death entered her abode and summoned her to that land of eternal rest where partings and farewells are unknown. Her last moments on earth were spent in bidding her weeping children, husband and friends good bye, whom she requested to kiss her quick as she would soon be gone. Her only regret seemed to be that of leaving her family of six children, the oldest being but fourteen years of age and the youngest but two. Mrs. Jones was born at the same place where she died on Feb. 15th, 1846, and was married Oct. 12, 1867, the ceremony taking place at the home of the bride. They resided in this vicinity until about seven years ago, when they moved onto a farm Mr. Jones purchased near Logansville. The deceased became a member of the Free Baptist church of this place in her early married life and possessed those traits of pure womanhood which are always admired. She won for herself the lasting friendship of all with whom she associated, and her remarkable patience in her last sickness was wonderful. The husband, children and relatives have the sympathy of a wide circle of friends in the great loss they have sustained. On Wednesday at 10 o'clock a large concourse of friends assembled at the residence to pay their last farewell tribute to the departed. The service was conducted by Rev. R. M. Washburn. A large procession wended its way to the cemetery in this place where all that was mortal of Sarah Emily Jones was tenderly layed at rest. A Card. We feel truly grateful and wish to express our sincere thanks, to our many friends and neighbors, who have lately assisted us in the care of our lamented daughter, in her last sickness and death and shall ever offer our prayers that you may never need like assistance. Again we offer you all our most sincere thanks. Jesse D. Aller and Family. The Enterprise, p. 4, col. 1, August 7, 1883, Evansville, Wisconsin
