Obituary: Rock County, Wisconsin: William LEE ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, May 2005 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ One of Evansville's substantial citizens, Mr. William Lee, passed away at his home in this city, Friday morning at 4:30. He had been sick about a year with heart trouble, and had been confined, more or less of that time to the house, tho as often as his strength permitted he gave personal attention to his business, and was at his shop and at work the Wednesday preceding his demise. Mr. Lee was born in Milwaukee, Sept. 8, 1859 and has always lived in Wisconsin, most of his life having been passed in this vicinity. He lived on a farm near Stebbinsville, Dane county, for many years, and later conducted a meat market in Cooksville for more than ten years, moving from there to this city where for the past five years he has been engaged in a similar line of trade. Mr. Lee was one of those who believed that the principles of fair dealing and of right conduct, man to man, should be the guide of one's daily life, no less than one's religious convictions. And so he lived and carried out these high ideals, winning strong friendships and establishing for himself a high character for honor and business integrity. He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Minnie Worthing of this city, a daughter, and one son, Ellsworth Lee, and a brother, Geo. Lee, of Milwaukee, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Wilson of the same city. The funeral was held Monday at 2 o'clock at the home and 2:30 at the M. E. church, the Knights of Pythias having charge of the services, and Rev. C. E. Coon being the officiating clergyman. The interment was in Maple Hill cemetery. June 22, 1911, Evansville Review, Evansville, Wisconsin
